Erik Bouaziz once profiled in media for overcoming struggles to help others
A man once profiled in the media for overcoming addiction to open his own treatment centre in Etobicoke has been charged with sexually assaulting and exploiting one of the facility's clients.
Erik Bouaziz, 37, co-owner and director of The Academy Addiction Treatment Centre, was arrested Friday morning and charged with one count each of sexual exploitation and sexual assault.
Toronto police allege that he used "his position of authority at the academy to obtain sexual favours from a female client at the facility."
The investigation is ongoing and there may be more victims, police said. Bouaziz appeared in court Friday morning.
Bouaziz appeared on CBC's The National and in other media outlets in October to talk about his struggles with depression and his journey overcoming drug and alcohol addiction to open his treatment centre.
