Red Deer man's pub stabbing likely city's 1st homicide since 2013

Alan Beach, 31, died in hospital after suffering stab wounds at Village Mall bar

Police are seeking witnesses after a man was fatally stabbed at a pub in Red Deer, in what could be the first homicide in the city since 2013.
The stabbing happened at the pub in the Village Mall shortly after 9 p.m. on Wednesday, according to RCMP.
The victim, 31-year-old Alan Beach, was rushed to hospital, where he later died.
Cpl. Sharon Franks said police would not release the name of the pub because the owner is worried it would tarnish the reputation of the business, but she noted there is only one pub in the Village Mall.
Franks said this case won't officially be considered a homicide until the autopsy results are returned.
Police said an autopsy was scheduled for later Thursday.
Anyone with information about the stabbing is asked to call the RCMP Red Deer Detachment at 403-406-2300 or to call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477.
There has not been a homicide in Red Deer since 2013, when a 43-year-old man was killed in his home.
