A pharmacist in St. John's has been suspended by the Newfoundland and Labrador Pharmacy Board after acknowledging he has stolen and ingested narcotic drugs over the past two years.
David Rogers was the former pharmacist-in-charge at Parkside Pharmacy. Another pharmacist and former colleague, Karen Francis, filed a complaint against Rogers.
A summary of Rogers' Adjudication Tribunal said Rogers struggled with substance abuse and addiction.
Rogers plead guilty to professional misconduct and violating the NL Pharmacy Board Code of Ethics.
He has been suspended from practicing pharmacy until he is deemed medically fit to practice, and ordered to surrender his certificate of registration.
Once deemed fit to practice, he will be prohibited from being a pharmacist in charge for five years, and will not be allowed to be the sole practitioner in a pharmacy.
