Three Calgary men are facing multiple charges and more could be on the way, said police on Thursday.
Police say the arrests were made after an investigation into a carjacking last Friday in the Market Mall parking lot. A woman was sitting in her silver 2003 Chevrolet Venture van when a man approached her with a gun around 9:30 p.m.
The man took off in the van with the victim's purse and ID. A stolen red Ford Taurus car left the scene and police believe they were working together.
The Ford Taurus was recovered early Saturday morning in a southwest Calgary community. Later that day, police responded to a bank machine break-in a few blocks away and found the registration of the stolen 2003 Chevrolet Venture van.
The van itself was found early Monday at an intersection in a northwest community. A man was taken into custody at the scene.
Charges laid
A 36-year-old Calgary man has been charged with possession of stolen goods and drugs. He was released with a promise to appear in court Thursday.
Police allege after his release he assaulted an employee while committing theft at a liquor store in Falconridge Drive N.E. He was arrested nearby and charged with additional offences.
The investigation led police to a motorhome near a house in the northeast community of Tuxedo Park Wednesday afternoon.
Three men were taken into custody and two have been charged.
A 30-year-old Calgary man is facing various firearm charges, and will appear in court Friday, and a 39-year-old man was arrested on unrelated warrants.
Police continue to look for evidence to lay charges directly related to the Market Mall carjacking.
