The New York Times is experimenting with VR technology(external link) — but is it just another passing fad?

q's tech correspondent Clive Thompson doesn't think so. He joins guest host Rachel Giese to discuss how VR creates notably different emotional effects than traditional documentary film and is a really "emotionally unsettling" way to experience the news.
"I thought it was a gimmick," admits Thompson, adding that he didn't expect the approach to work at all. "I had to reassess my skepticism after I looked at this."
