Long-time business associate refused to offer a DNA sample after Richard Oland was killed
The second-degree murder trial of Dennis Oland is continuing this morning in Saint John with Robert McFadden, a long-time business associated with Richard Oland, back on the stand.
After Oland's death in 2011, Dennis Oland and McFadden were co-executors of his will and became co-directors of his three businesses, the court heard Tuesday.

McFadden did not fully co-operate with the police investigation, he refused to provide a DNA sample, but police subsequently obtained a "cast-off" DNA sample covertly, seizing a straw he had used at East Side Mario's on Dec. 29, 2013.
A handwritten to-do list found on McFadden's desk at Richard Oland's office had "will" as the sixth item. Richard Oland was considering changing his will.
The court also learned that McFadden knew of Richard Oland's affair with Diana Sedlacek.
Dennis Oland requested that McFadden suggest to his father that word about the affair was "getting out" and "to cool it."
