It will cost $100K to replace Scott Duvall in a March byelection

Duvall was elected as a federal NDP MP this month
It will cost $100,000 to hold a byelection to replace Mountain councillor-turned-MP Scott Duvall, and it will likely be held on March 21, 2016.
City councillors will approve a plan on Wednesday to fill Duvall's vacant Ward 7 council seat. Duvall was elected as an NDP MP for Hamilton Mountain during the Oct. 19 federal election.
Council is expected to pass a bylaw on Dec. 9 authorizing the election, with nominations starting on Dec. 10. Advance polls will be March 10 and 12, and election day on March 21. The $100,000 will come from a reserve.
Duvall spent nine years as a city councillor before he put in his name to replace Chris Charlton as Hamilton Mountain's NDP nominee. Charlton announced her retirement from federal politics last year.
