Tignish Fire Department also responded to a call where hay bales were ablaze
Three fires, including two at abandoned houses, kept the Tignish Fire Department busy Halloween night.
Firefighters first responded to a fire at a house in Kildare on Route 12 around 9 p.m. While on scene, they were called to another structure fire on Harper Road.
Then, at around 11 p.m., the department responded to a blaze on Phillip Street where hay bales were on fire.
Fire Chief Harley Perry says the fires were likely set on purpose.
"Last year was quiet. Every year it's up and down, but this is one of the busier years, of course," he said.
"They didn't light themselves. There was no power to either structure."
Perry says both of the abandoned houses were completely destroyed.
The investigation has been turned over to the provincial fire marshal.
