Veteran police officer charged with theft, firearm offences

52-year-old constable suspended with pay, Ontario Provincial Police say
A 52-year-old Ontario Provincial Police constable based in Brockville has been suspended with pay after being charged Saturday with theft and firearm-related offences.
The 20-year veteran, who is posted to the Leeds County OPP detachment, was arrested after an internal investigation by the OPP's professional standards bureau.
He has been charged with:
- Theft over $5,000.
- Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.
- Breach of trust.
- Unlawful possession of a restricted firearm.
- Unsafe storage of a firearm.
- Unsafe storage of ammunition.
- Possession of a firearm without a license.
- Possession of a Schedule II substance.
The officer has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Brockville court on Dec. 11, the OPP said in a media release.
