She found them all on her own by driving around the neighbourhood
When Transcona residents started saying they would take their kids outside the neighbourhood to trick-or-treat because there weren't many decorated, spooky houses, Carol Cassell set out to change their minds.
She left her Transcona home to drive around the area, looking for the most theatrical, haunting homes.
By Halloween, she had a map of neighbourhood streets, complete with more than 700 pegs marking locations of houses that had set up shop for Halloween.
"The houses with red [pegs] have spectacular decorations or they do something really special like family members dress up," Cassell said.
"The purple ones just look like they're going to be handing out candy."
There are also orange pegs, which Cassell said marks the houses that put out more decorations than houses marked in purple and less than those marked by red.
It's the second Halloween in a row Cassell has taken it upon herself to pinpoint the best houses for trick-or-treaters in the neighbourhood. Both times, she's made a Facebook group to post pictures of the houses she finds and share information about the map.

Last year, the group had 50 members and this year, it has more than 200.
"People have been messaging me online and sending me houses and photos and asking to be added to the map and thanking me," she said.
While Cassell herself is staying in tonight to celebrate with family, her map is available to anyone who wants to know the top spots for candy, decorations and Halloween spirit in Transcona.
