Beaconsfield parents, students rally in support of teachers

Demonstration comes after week of public sector strikes

Parents and students joined hands in front of Beacon Hill Elementary School on Friday morning to denounce education cuts.
The demonstration was in support of teachers and support staff, who have been without a contract since April.

This week public sector workers across Quebec held rotating strikes in protest of stalled negotiations with the provincial government.
Yesterday, the teachers at Beacon Hill Elementary took part in the walkout held across Montreal and Laval. More than 5,500 teachers from English-language schools were on the picket line Thursday.
