Artist, anthropologist and computer scientist Jonathan Harris(external link)' latest project (along with Gregory Hochmuth) is the Network Effect(external link), an exploration of the psychological effect of internet use on humanity.
"In some way the internet is like this beautiful dance we're all addicted to watching." - Jonathan Harris
With millions of data points, the project imitates the experience of browsing the web in order to get a snapshot of interconnected humanity. And what it finds is that we seem more disconnected than ever. Network Effect is a powerful critique of the limitations of constant immersion online, and a reminder of the time and space we need in this digital age.
