The $3.5-million fire that destroyed an under-construction apartment complex in Winnipeg is considered suspicious, police said Friday.
The blaze began at 2:30 a.m. Thursday in the three-storey building at the corner of Waverley Street and John Angus Drive.
Some homes in the neighbourhood were evacuated because the heat was so intense, but everyone was allowed to return by early afternoon.
Crews remained at the scene fighting flare-ups for most of the day. No injuries were reported.
The investigation is continuing by members of the Winnipeg Police Service's arson unit. Anyone with information is asked to contact investigators at (204) 986-6813 or Crime Stoppers at (204) 786-TIPS (8477).
