Worker killed at Nickel Rim South mine in Sudbury

A worker at Glencore's Nickel Rim South mine(external link) in Sudbury was killed sometime Tuesday morning.
The Ministry of Labour(external link) said the worker was struck by a piece of equipment while underground.
The name of the man has not been released, but in a statement, Glencore(external link) said the family of the deceased was notified.
The death marked the first fatality at a mine in Sudbury this year.
Greater Sudbury Police(external link) and union representatives were on the scene investigating and are working in conjunction with the Ministry of Labour(external link).
Police were called to the scene shortly before 11 a.m. on Tuesday.
All shifts at Nickel Rim South mine are cancelled until further notice.
