The family of a woman who was shot by an abusive ex-boyfriend held their second annual walk against violence Saturday.

- A new bond grows from the deaths of Vince Dillon, Juliane Hibbs
Despite the rain, roughly 50 people came out to remember Juliane Hibbs and her fiance Vince Dillon, who were killed two years ago in a violent shooting in Conception Bay South.
"It doesn't get any easier, but we want to keep Juliane's memory alive. And I think we're helping other women," said Debbie Hibbs, Juliane's mother.
"We need to take this violence out of the private, and into the public sphere."
This is the second year the Hibbs family has held the walk in C.B.S.
Phil Hibbs, Juliane's father, said government needs to enact changes to deal with domestic violence.
"The issue is so rampant, there's a lot of violence against women and girls not only in our community of C.B.S. but in Newfoundland and Labrador and the world," said
Hibbs said he wants to see more programs in schools to teach young people about healthy relationships.
"The only thing you can do is raise awareness," he said.
"Hopefully that awareness will raise action and governments will realize that things need to be changed and programs need to be put in place, especially at an early level in school where a lot of these relationships are formed and they turn bad."
