Roads expected to be closed until Friday around noon
Ontario Provincial Police have closed County Road 20 and County Road 18 in North Grenville near Bishops Mills after a body was found Wednesday night.
A news release from the Grenville County OPP said they responded to a call about the body around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, near that closed intersection.
Police say the death is considered suspicious but there's no risk to the public.
"Certainly we don't believe there's a heightened concern for people's safety," said Cst. Cathy Lindsey of the OPP.
An autopsy on the body was underway when Lindsey gave an update around 11:30 a.m., at which point she said she didn't have an age or gender to release.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Grenville County OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or 613-258-3441 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
The CBC's Emily Ridlington says several OPP vehicles are in the area, with police searching near a bridge over Kemptville Creek.
Lindsey wouldn't say if the discovery was made on land or in the water, just that they're searching a wide area.
Bishops Mills is just off Highway 416, about 75 kilometres south of downtown Ottawa.
Traffic is being rerouted along Jigg Street until further notice. OPP say they expect the roads to be closed at least until Friday around noon.
