Darryl "Chocolate Thunder" Dawkins, who passed away in August of 2015, would go on to coach the team.

The team called the Winnipeg Convention Centre home court. Like the Winnipeg Thunder before it, the Cyclone had a hard time attracting a crowd to fill the stands during home games. The team folded in 2001.
