Dennis Oland's second-degree murder trial is continuing on Friday in Saint John as a forensic investigator describes preserving the bloody crime scene.
Sgt. Mark Smith, the head of the Saint John Police Force's forensic unit, testified on Thursday about the difficulties he faced in trying to preserve the crime scene.

Smith led the jury through some of the 119 photos of the crime scene submitted into evidence.
Oland,47, is charged with killing his father, prominent Saint John business man Richard Oland.
Richard suffered 40 sharp and blunt force injuries to his head and neck and six defensive wounds to his hands. No weapon was ever found.
