About 150 dairy farmers and their supporters gathered in Summerside Wednesday to express their concerns about the Trans-Pacific Partnership to Gail Shea, P.E.I.'s representative in the federal cabinet.

The Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) is a broad-ranging trade deal, currently being negotiated amongst 12 Pacific Rim countries.
Dairy farmers are concerned about how the deal could affect supply management, which limits what dairy farmers can produce, but also protects prices.
Shea told the gathered farmers not to pay attention to speculation about what is in the trade deal.
"The government remains absolutely committed to making sure we preserve our system of supply management through these trade negotiations," she told the rally.
There are reports a draft deal for the TPP is very close to being approved.
