Today, artists are navigating the digital world themselves, often taking camera in hand to shoot their own content and uploading the results directly to social media. The Collective is a CBC Arts digital project that lets artists tell their own stories. CBC Arts and Emmy Award-winning interactive agency Secret Location teamed up to commission videos from artist collectives from across the country — from dance to street art to writing — and put the production of the videos in the hands of the artists themselves. For The Collective, everything — from scripting to shooting to editing — was done by the artists themselves. Each video is a testament to the unifying power of art.
