P.E.I government starts repairs of washed-out dam at Marchbanks Pond

Dam is about 100 years old; washed out by record rain and snowfalls

The government of P.E.I. says work is underway to repair a washed-out dam at Marchbanks Pond in the western part of the island.
The dam, which is about 100 years old, was damaged after record snowfalls and rainfalls this year.
Officials say the flooding has affected passage of fish and also contributed to the washout of a local bridge and roadway.
The restoration, in partnership with the Cascumpec Bay Watershed Association, will take place throughout the fall.
