The Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba (IIU) is looking for witnesses to the police-involved shooting Sunday that left Haki Sefa dead.
The IIU is asking witnesses and other individuals who may have information to contact them toll-free at 1-844-667-6060.
Since this is an ongoing matter, no further details about the incident or the investigation will be provided, the IIU stated in a news release.
The IIU investigates all serious incidents involving police officers in Manitoba.
Sefa, 44, was driving a van that was stopped by police northeast of Winnipeg near the intersection of Highway 59 and Kirkness Road at 10:30 p.m. Sunday.
The IIU has said an "interaction" between officers and Sefa ended in police discharging their weapons and the man dying. The IIU hasn't said yet whether officers shot and killed Sefa.

Zane Tessler, director of the IIU, has said a weapon that didn't belong to police was found at the scene but he could not confirm whether it had been fired. He also said emergency medical services were provided to Sefa, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Winnipeg Police Association president Maurice Sabourin has said 12 officers are being investigated in connection with the shooting. The officers are receiving counselling and support, which is standard when they are involved in a traumatic incident.
No police officers were injured in the incident.
Family members told CBC News that Sefa was depressed and suicidal in the lead-up to Sunday's events.
