Two people are dead following a crash involving an SUV and a semi-trailer truck at the intersection of Highway 16 and Highway 47, northwest of Yorkton.

RCMP said the crash happened around 1:30 p.m. CST Tuesday near the community of Springside, Sask., which is about 25 kilometres northwest of Yorkton.

According to RCMP, a northbound SUV collided with an eastbound semi-tractor.

The two people in the SUV, a male driver and a female passenger, died at the scene RCMP said. The male driver of the semi was not injured.

RCMP said traffic was being diverted around the accident scene and a collision analyst would be examining the scene so motorists in the area could expect delays well into the evening.
