Fredericton new $2-million roundabout, which opened on Tuesday morning, is expected to cause some initial confusion.
The roundabout is on Route 8 and also draws in traffic from Smythe Street and Bishop Drive.
It is the first of its knd in the province.
The opening was delayed after an inspection showed the grade of the asphalt in a part of the circle was unsatisfactory. The section had to be milled and repaved.
Earlier this summer, the city released their public education campaign to show drivers how to use the roundabout.
The city is advising motorists to follow five rules for the roundabout.
  1. Choose your lane in advance of the roundabout
  2. Slow down and Yield to pedestrians
  3. Yield to traffic already in the roundabout
  4. Do not change lanes within the roundabout
  5. Give trucks plenty of room
