Search continues for Neville Jewell on Howe Sound Crest Trail

Neville Jewell was last heard from on Sept 12, when he sent a text from the West Lion
North Shore Rescue is turning to social media to help find a 52-year-old man who went missing more than a week ago while hiking on the Howe Sound Crest Trail.
The last time anyone heard from Neville Jewell was on September 12, when he texted his girlfriend to say he was on the West Lion, about a half-day's hike from the Cypress Bowl parking lot where his car was later found, according to West Vancouver Police.
On Sunday North Shore Rescue posted photos of Facebook of a fire pit and other gear they found near the summit of St. Mark`s, to the north of Cypress Mountain, hoping to determine if they are connected to Jewell.
"If anyone has actually come across these objects, they need to let us know. We did have someone come forward last night about other objects we found," said North Shore Rescue spokesman Jeff Yarnold.
Teams have already scoured many of the trails in the area, he said. A helicopter joined the renewed search efforts on Monday morning, as did Jewell's family.
"We're also trying to nail down a bit of data with the cell phone provider to try to pinpoint the search area a little bit more. We had over 20 people out yesterday into last night."
Jewell, who lives in White Rock, is not someone who is likely or well-equipped enough to stay out in the wilderness for a long time, said West Vancouver Police.
