A 19-year-old Calgary man has died after falling over a 100-metre waterfall while hiking in British Columbia, according to Parks Canada.
The young man fell over Twin Falls in Yoho National Park early Sunday afternoon while hiking in a group of four, Parks Canada spokesperson Tania Peters said.
Rescuers rushed to the site just west of the Alberta border after receiving an emergency signal from a satellite device around 1 p.m. MT.
An aerial and ground search continued until dark on Sunday and then searchers resumed the task early Monday morning.

Recovery effort

Peters said the man is believed dead and the search is now considered a recovery effort.
Twin Falls is about an eight-kilometre hike from the Takakkaw Falls parking lot, which is located next to the Trans-Canada Highway, just east of Field, B.C.
Peters said the man was hiking in what's believed to be a "family group" on the Whaleback Trail.
"It's certainly an incredibly sad situation," she said.
