Queen Elizabeth becomes the longest-serving British monarch Wednesday, surpassing the 63-year reign of her great-great-grandmother, Victoria.
To mark the occasion, we present some of the coverage of the Queen's visits to Newfoundland and Labrador, with highlights seen in the video player above.
In 1959, the Queen and Prince Philip visited the province as part of a Canada-wide tour.
In 1978, her visit to the province included several functions such as turning the sod for what became the Queen Elizabeth II Library at Memorial University in St. John's.
In 1997, the Queen celebrated the 500th anniversary of the landfall of John Cabot. She joined crowds in Bonavista as the replica of Cabot's ship the Matthew sailed into the harbour.
