Throughout the federal election campaign,

's Mike Finnerty and Shari Okeke are hitting the road to&nbsp;hear directly from&nbsp;voters as they decide who they want to form the next Canadian government.

This week, they headed out to the West Island to&nbsp;check in with&nbsp;voters in&nbsp;Pointe-Claire and Beaconsfield.&nbsp;

Since its creation in 1996, the Lac-Saint-Louis riding has never been anything other than Liberal red.

But the NDP and the Conservatives also have strong support in the area, and a few thousand votes separated the first, second and third place finishers in the 2011 election.&nbsp;

"I guess in some ways the Harper ad campaign is working because [Trudeau] just seems very inexperienced and not as knowledgeable as I would feel comfortable with," said Elaine Paterson, who is leaning away from the Liberals and toward the NDP.
