Topics ranged from government accountability to the need for royalty reviews, but the biggest issue seemed to be how to get Alberta's economy back on track.
The vote will be held on Sept. 3, and this will be the third time people living in the riding will have to cast a ballot since last October.
The seat belonged to former premier Jim Prentice before he resigned in May right after the NDP won the Alberta election. Prentice was first elected to the Alberta Legislature in the riding in a byelection in the fall of 2014.
Alberta Premier Rachel Notley called the byelection in early August, setting the stage for the first referendum of sorts on her new government — albeit with a very small sample size.
Candidates in the byelection include Bob Hawkesworth for the NDP, Wildrose candidate Prasad Panda, Ali Bin Zahid for the Liberals, PC candidate Blair Houston, Alberta Green Party Leader Janet Keeping and the Alberta Party's Mark Taylor.
