Legionella bacteria found 4 times in recent months at federal buildings in Gatineau, Que.
Legionella bacteria were found in the heating, ventilation and air conditioning system at Les Terrasses de la Chaudière in Gatineau, Que., according to officials with the federal department of public works.
The bacteria discovery happened during testing last Friday as part of a regular maintenance inspection of the HVAC systems, officials said in an email.

The tests found a "low level presence of Legionella bacteria in the cooling tower" that was 10 times below the Quebec provincial reporting standards, officials added.
Public works officials then closed, flushed and disinfected the water system. Follow-up test results this week showed "negligible presence" of the bacteria, which is well within acceptable standards, according to public works.
Nobody suffered any illnesses related to this finding and the building remains safe for employees, officials added.
This comes after Legionella bacteria were found in the HVAC systems of separate federal government buildings in Gatineau in April, May and June.
