Prince Edward Island's Julia Dunn had a weekend to remember after performing on stage with country music star Keith Urban at the Cavendish Beach Music Festival on Saturday night.
The 15-year-old won a contest at a Moncton radio station to sing before thousands of country music fans.
Dunn says the moment she took the stage beside Urban was surreal.
"He started introducing me and the butterflies were just going. It was crazy," she said.
"It was a dream, I kept looking over at him and I didn't think it was real. I couldn't comprehend it in my head. It was awesome but also kind of sad because I know that was probably the highlight of my life."
Her parents couldn't be more proud. Darren and Colleen Dunn say they will never forget watching their little girl on stage in front of 20,000 people.
"The phone hasn't stopped ringing actually … friends, family, neighbours," they said.
"I was trying not to throw up," Darren Dunn said. "We were all a little nervous, I'm not sure who was more nervous, she was more excited, we were more nervous."
The Dunns say Julia has been singing for years and they hope this experience will show her that dreams really can come true.
"You put a lot of hard work into things and this is what you can accomplish, so good on her," Colleen Dunn said.
Julia Dunn hopes to make a career out of music and will practice with her brand new guitar, which was a thank you gift from Keith Urban.
