Two different prostitution stings in Calgary have led to charges against 36 people.
The first happened in late March and involved a four-day operation focusing on "known strolls" in the Beltline and the Forest Lawn Industrial area. That lead to 32 people charged with obtaining sexual services for consideration.
A second sting in June resulted in four men charged with communicating for the purposes of attaining sexual services from a minor. That operation targeted online services involving under-aged girls.
"Prostitution is a very complex issue requiring a collaborative approach amongst law enforcement and social service agencies," said police in a press release. "Enforcement efforts focus on reducing consumer demand by targeting the users of sexual services."
