Olympia Entertainment and Olympia Development opened a state-of-the-art centre Monday.
It features 3D-printed scaled animated models of The District Detroit and the new arena to provide a fully immersive experience of the transformative project.
The 20,000-seat, $450-million U.S. hockey arena is expected to open in 2017. It will be the anchor for a $650-million U.S., 45-block entertainment district.
The project is expected to create jobs and stimulate growth between downtown and Detroit's Midtown.
Olympia Entertainment claims in a media release construction of the arena and surrounding district is expected to generate at least $1.8 billion US in total economic impact, 8,300 construction and construction-related jobs and 1,100 permanent jobs.
