The Taliban launched a two-pronged attack on the Afghan parliament on Monday, setting off a suicide car bomb at the entrance and storming the heavily guarded compound as lawmakers were meeting inside to vote on the appointment of a new defence minister.
Afghan security forces managed to repel the attack, killing all six of the gunmen and ensuring that no members of parliament were harmed. A woman and 10-year-old girl were killed during the attack and 31 people were injured.
Cameras inside the parliament building captured the moment when the car bomb explosion occurred.
