Tactical officers and members of the vice and drugs and gangs units made several arrests in central Hamilton Wednesday afternoon.

Police spokesperson Const. Steve Welton couldn't say what incident or incidents the arrests were connected to, and said police would release more information Thursday.

"There are no immediate threats to public safety," Welton said. He could not specify how many people had been arrested or what charges they would be facing.

Police have been investigating several high-profile incidents in recent months, including a mid day shooting on Main Street.
