Laura Jessome murder suspect charged with witness intimidation

Allegation stems from incident at June 2 preliminary hearing into murder case

Cape Breton police have charged a suspect in the murder of Laura Jessome with intimidating a witness in the case.
Morgan James McNeil, 24, is charged with threats against Robert Bennett, intimidation of a witness and breaching a court order in connection with an incident at Sydney provincial court on June 2.
He and co-accused Thomas Ted Barrett, 40, were in court June 2 for a preliminary hearing on a charge of second degree murder in the death of the young Bras d'Or woman whose body was found in a hockey bag floating in the Mira River in May 2012.
The pair have elected to be tried by judge and jury and will be back in court in July to set a trial date.
McNeil is currently in federal prison on robbery-related offences.
