Joshua Mitchell, 20, faces several charges including criminal negligence causing death, hit and run causing death and dangerous driving causing death.

"The case is in its early stages but the charges are very serious, obviously, and the Crown is going to be opposing any release application that Mr. Mitchell may make," said Chief Crown prosecutor Lloyd Robertson.
Mitchell was on bail at the time he is accused of killing Rashidi. He is facing charges of dangerous driving and possessing a stolen truck from an incident in January.
The case will be back in court on June 30 when Mitchell could apply for bail if he has found a lawyer.
Robertson didn't rule out laying more charges after reviewing the evidence police have gathered.
Rashidi had been on the job for just three days when she was struck by the vehicle. She leaves behind a husband and six-year-old son.
The family moved to Canada to work in the oil and gas industry. Both engineers, they were laid off after just four months in Calgary. That's why Rashidi took the job at the Centex gas station.
"My heart goes out to the family of the victim," said Robertson.
Memorial services for Rashidi held on Friday and Saturday drew hundreds of people.
