A little planning could go a long way for families and soccer fans who want to avoid the potential traffic and parking headaches associated with FIFA Women's World Cup games in Winnipeg.

Those driving to the games will pay $20 to park in first-come, first-serve lots nearest to Investors Group Stadium. Drivers headed for these spots should enter via University Crescent or Chancellor Matheson Road.

There's also cheaper parking behind the University of Manitoba that will run fans $10. It's a bit of a jaunt to the stadium, so there's a shuttle service available that will take fans to and from the game. Thrifty drivers should take University Crescent to get to the lots at the back of the U of M.

For anyone from out of town: remember to have Canadian cash with you. While parking attendants at the more expensive lot will accept foreign currencies at par, the cheaper lot will only take Canadian cash.

There's also four park-and-ride areas that cost $5 a head in the area.

As for Winnipeg Transit, a series of extra buses have been added to Route 160 to accommodate the increase in traffic. Transit is also offering free post-match rides to people headed home after games.

People staying in hotels downtown can take non-stop hotel shuttles to and from the stadium. That service starts two hours before kick-off.

Nigeria faces Sweden at Investors Group Field at 3 p.m. Monday. The U.S. plays Australia at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
