Vancouver's so-called Queen of Punk, Bif Naked, will be holding court at the Rickshaw Theatre on Friday.
Born Beth Torbert, Naked has had a varied career beyond punk rock, including performing acoustic and pop music.
"I think that I fell in love, I think that helps. Whenever I'm not in love I'm writing rock songs, whenever I am in love I am writing these really lovey-dovey songs," she told CBC's On The Coast.
Naked says playing music in a wide variety of genres offers her the freedom to express herself in different ways.
"I think that all of us can transform through the performance mediums that we choose. Suddenly all of these things come out that maybe in the rest of our lives, we don't let happen."

Naked says she's excited to return to her punk rock roots at Friday's concert.
"What a wonderful vehicle this is to get out all of those emotions you are too polite to go for in the rest of your life... doing rock shows is getting to have Halloween every night."
