Waterloo Regional Council has approved the names for the 19 light rail transit stops that stretch from Conestoga mall to Fairway mall.
The names aim to reflect well-known establishments or landmarks in the area of the stop, or by the closest cross street.
Council was presented with a list last last Friday and approved the names Tuesday.
All names included in the staff proposal were approved, with one change at the request of Kitchener Mayor Berry Vbranovic.
Vrbranovic requested the stop at King and Victoria streets be changed to "Central Station - Innovation District" to reflect a push to brand that area as an innovation supercluster.
These are the approved names:

- Research and Technology
- University of Waterloo
- Laurier-Waterloo Park
- Willis Way
- Waterloo Public Square
- Allen
