Police officers in Labrador West charged a 32-year-old man with impaired driving early Saturday morning — but he wasn't driving the vehicle.
The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary pulled over the vehicle in Labrador City near a trailer court around 3:20 a.m.
Police determined the driver was operating with a Class 5 learner's permit, but the accompanying driver was impaired by alcohol.
That person is considered to be in care and control of a vehicle, when a learner's permit driver is operating a vehicle.
In addition to the impaired charge, the man was issued a driving suspension and released to appear in provincial court at a later date.
