28-year-old suffers non-life threatening injuries after being stabbed on Cornwallis Street
Less than 24 hours after being released from prison, Jason Kyle DeYoung was stabbed in downtown Halifax.
The stabbing occurred in an alley behind Cornwallis Street around 9:50 a.m. DeYoung was able to make his way down to Gottingen Street and then outside the Salvation Army.
He was transported to hospital with what police say are non-life threatening injuries.
Sources confirm that the 28-year-old stabbing victim is DeYoung, who was only released from prison May 20.
He served two-thirds of a seven-year sentence for crimes including: escaping lawful custody, three counts of assault with a weapon, death threats and two counts of armed robbery.
DeYoung was shot in the knee while fleeing from police.
Hours after the stabbing, police arrested a 38-year-old man on Gottingen Street. He was still being questioned Thursday afternoon.
