Jazlyn Radke has been sentenced to life in prison with no chance of parole for seven years in the stabbing death of University of Calgary student Brett Wiese.
Wiese, 20, bled to death in January 2013 after being attacked at a house party in the city's northwest.

"I can assure you that there isn't a criminal sentence on earth that equals the pain and despair that we live every single day," said the victim's mother Brenda Wiese outside the Calgary Courts Centre Tuesday.
Radke, who was 17 when she was charged, was sentenced Tuesday as an adult, allowing her name to be published for the first time. Even though she was sentenced as an adult, the judge reduced the normal 10-year parole ineligibility to seven years.
In earlier testimony, the 19-year-old admitted to being kicked out of the Brentwood house party. The court was told the woman refused to go and was screaming, swearing and swinging at partygoers before vowing to return.
About 10 people arrived back at the party around 3 a.m. and an altercation ensued. Radke was accused of stabbing Wiese once in the back.
"The truth today is that our beautiful, kind and gentle son, and brother, Brett Wiese was viciously murdered by human hands. Nothing will bring him back and we know that no human imposed consequence will truly equal the magnitude of this crime. We believe that the true consequence for the murderer Jazlyn Radke and all of her people will be beyond this earthly life," said Brenda Wiese.
A second person, Mitchell Harkes, is accused of stabbing Wiese six times. His trial is scheduled for the fall.
