MacMaster records first album with husband Donnell Leahy and sings on the recording
Cape Breton fiddler Natalie MacMaster and her husband Donnell Leahy have marked a couple of firsts with the release of their new album, called One.
The couple, who have six children, have never recorded a full-length album together until now.
One is a collection of fiddle tunes from a variety of sources and there's one vocal track on the album as well, featuring MacMaster.
MacMaster had never sung on a record before and resisted doing it this time, until producer Bob Ezrin told her she should.
Ezrin, who is known for his work with Pink Floyd, Alice Cooper and Deep Purple, suggested MacMaster should sing it for her youngest child Sadie — and she relented.
MacMaster spoke with Mainstreet Cape Breton's Wendy Bergfelt.
