The mayor of Calgary is welcoming the $15 million from the province for several flood mitigation projects.
But Naheed Nenshi says the city asked the government for $50 million to help protect several areas against flood waters in the future.
"We're happy with the 15, the 14.9, but certainly there's 35 to go and we'll continue to have that conversation with the province as well as conversation on other work that will need to be done if the province chooses to not move forward with either McClean Creek or the Glenmore diversion tunnel," Nenshi said.
Nenshi says he's disappointed the province has decided against funding flood protection projects for ENMAX facilities which could leave customers vulnerable to outages.
"One of the decisions that the province has made is not to fund ENMAX-related things and of course we have to do that too because people can't lose their power during a flood," he said.
The provincial money will be used for improvements at the Glenmore Dam, the Centre Street Bridge and to protect a flood-prone area of Heritage Drive by the Bow River.
