PC MLA Wayne Cao is not running again. He has represented the riding since its creation in 1997. Five candidates are vying for his empty seat: Liberal Said Abdulbaki, NDP Joe Ceci, Alberta Party Vic Goosen, Wildrose Jeevan Mangat and PC Andy Bao Nguyen.

This riding is bordered on the east by the city limits, on the south by 114th Ave S.E., 52nd Street S.E., 130th Avenue S.E., Deerfoot Trail S.E., 83rd Avenue S.E. and Barlow Trail S.E. The western border consists of the Bow River, 25th Avenue S.E., the Elbow River and Third Street S.E. The north is bordered by the Bow River, 26th Avenue S.E., 36th Street S.E., Eighth Avenue S.E., 52nd Street S.E. and 17th Avenue S.E. Communities in this riding include Ogden, Dover, Forest Lawn and Erin Woods.

1997-present: PC Wayne Cao has held the seat since 1997. In 2012, Cao defeated second-place Wildrose candidate Jeevan Mangat by only 144 votes. Liberals were the main challengers to Cao's victories in 2008, 2004, 2001 and 1997.
