One of Canada's best-known artists is paying tribute to his friends with his latest show, opening tonight at Slate Fine Art Gallery in Regina.
Joe Fafard says Mes Amis features those who have inspired him in his own artwork, "whether they are imaginary or real and whether I knew them or not."
The portraits range from artists who lived hundreds of years ago to those still living today. But Fafard describes each one with warmth and almost as much detail as you can see in the portraits themselves.
CBC's Stefani Langenegger dropped by the show for a sneak peek at a few of the pieces on display, as described by the artist who created them.
