Police in Alberta say Griffon skipped last court date, likely in Nova Scotia
Alberta police say a former Nova Scotia man linked to a Mexican drug cartel skipped his last court date, breached other bail conditions, and is likely in this province.
Peter Alan Griffon was arrested in December in Edmonton and police allege he is a member of La Familia, which has been trying to aggressively muscle into Alberta’s drug trade.
Police say when they searched his home, officers found four kilograms of cocaine, 2.6 kilograms of MDMA, $30,000 in cash and two .22 rifles.
Griffon was released on bail and allowed to return to Nova Scotia. He since missed a court date, failed to report to his bail supervisor and breached other conditions, according to Mike Tucker with the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams.
"We know he is in Nova Scotia," Tucker said in an email. "The warrants are being extended and it is likely he will be returned to Alberta in the immediate future."
Griffon grew up in the New Glasgow area and has family in Nova Scotia. Griffon had been working out west for several years.
Griffon was one of four alleged members of La Familia arrested in December. On Thursday, police announced they had re-arrested two of them after officers witnessed a drug deal last week in southeast Edmonton.
