The federal government spent $276.8B last year - and almost half of that came from personal income taxes

Come tax time, we are painfully reminded of just how much we contribute to the smooth functioning of our society, but just where does all that income tax collected at this time of year go?
In the 2013-14 fiscal year, the government spent $276.8 billion, and 80 per cent of it, or $219.9 billion, came from tax revenue. We take a look at how it was divvied up.
