The race
Liberal incumbent Doug Currie has been a prominent cabinet minister during his time in the legislature, and had one of the largest margins of victory in the province in 2011. Lynn MacLaren is the PC candidate running against him, along with Becka Viau for the Green Party and Andrew Watts for the NDP.

District profile
Developed mostly in the 1950s, the district of Charlottetown-Parkdale could be considered the city's oldest suburb.
The area is now more accurately described as urban, and includes a large commercial stretch along St. Peter's Road. The district also includes an older residential district close to the downtown, just north of Euston Street.
Electoral history
2011: Doug Currie (LIB) wins easy re-election over Bernie Flynn (PC) by 845 votes.
2007: Currie beat Dr. Mike Molyneaux (PC) by 565 votes.
Parkdale-Belvedere
2003: Chester Gillan (PC) beat Charlie Cooke (LIB) by 665 votes.
2000: Gillan easily won over Jacob Mal (LIB) by 1,077 votes.
1996: Gillan beat Stephen Dowling (LIB) by 576 votes.
